If you're an experienced Support Worker who enjoys being active, loves a challenge and believes there's always a way to help someone participate, we'd love to hear from you.
Disability Support Workers | Kaimahi Tautoko Hauātanga
Very High Needs Service | Dunedin – Ōtepoti
32 or 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday | Starting 18 January 2027
A new service. A small team. A chance to make a real difference.
Some support roles call for a little more experience, a little more creativity, and a whole lot of heart.
We're building something new at Community Care Trust Aotearoa, and we're looking for experienced, enthusiastic Support Workers who enjoy being hands-on, thinking outside the box and finding ways to make things possible.
Our new service will support young people with significant physical disabilities and/or complex support needs as they move beyond school and into the next stage of their lives.
These young people live at home with their families, and our role is to help them enjoy meaningful days, build connections, explore opportunities and be actively involved in their communities.
We're looking for people who see possibilities rather than limitations.
What makes this role different? | Mō te tūranga
This isn't about simply doing things for someone. It's about working with them, recognising their strengths and finding creative ways to support their independence and participation.
You'll understand the importance of active support and know how to adapt activities, environments and everyday experiences to suit each person's abilities, interests and needs.
There will also be hands-on physical support, including personal cares, mobility assistance, safe manual handling and the use of specialist equipment and alternative communication methods.
No two people are the same, and no two days will be quite alike. That's why we're looking for people who are adaptable, creative and confident finding practical solutions.
Is this you? | Mōu
You genuinely enjoy getting to know people and building relationships that make a difference.
You're fit and strong, comfortable with the physical demands of the role, and understand how to provide safe, respectful support using appropriate equipment and techniques.
You're a hands-on problem solver who can think on your feet, adapt activities to suit someone's needs and find another way when the first approach doesn't work.
You understand that consistency and commitment really matter. Building trust and rapport takes time, and being someone a young person and their whānau can rely on is an important part of providing great support.
You'll also bring patience, a good sense of humour, initiative and the ability to work closely with families, colleagues and other professionals.
You'll need a full NZ driver's licence and the legal right to work in New Zealand. A relevant Health and Wellbeing qualification would be an advantage.
Why join us? | He aha ai mātou?
We're keeping this team small, supportive and connected, with hands-on leadership and a genuine commitment to working together.
You'll have the opportunity to help shape a new service from the beginning, bring your ideas to the table and be part of creating great experiences for the young people we support.
Here's what you can look forward to:
32 or 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility to negotiate hours where possible
Two weeks off over Christmas, allowing you time to recharge and enjoy the festive season
A small, friendly team with approachable, hands-on leadership
Pay rates reflecting relevant qualifications and experience
Specialised training and ongoing professional development
Staff discounts and free Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
Meaningful work where your creativity, experience and commitment are genuinely valued
